President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of DIG, Usman Alkali Baba as new Inspector-General of Police to take over from Mohammed Adamu.
The President appointed Usman Alkali Baba as the Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, who disclosed the appointment on Tuesday during a briefing with state house correspondents in Abuja, noted that the appointment is with immediate effect.
The tenure of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu was extended by three months by President Buhari in February 2020.
This development was disclosed by the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He noted that the extension of the IGP’s tenure by the president is to allow enough time to select a new police boss.
But IGP Adamu has only spent two months out of the three months extension given him by the President.
