Nigerians have taken to social media to react after the Federal Government announced the suspension of operations of microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.
Twitter deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet wherein he spoke about the civil war experience.
The Nigerian government in a tweet on Tuesday threatened to deal with those bent on destroying Nigeria through insurrection.
In a post on Twitter, the president wrote, “Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”
However, the American based social media platform deleted the message on Wednesday, noting that the tweet violates its operational terms.
The founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, had previously accused by the federal government of trying to cause a crisis in the country when he (Jack) backed the #EndSARS (protests) that rocked Nigeria last year.
The Twitter CEO also retweeted the means of contributing to the funds used for the protests.
Reacting to the suspension of the social media platform in Nigeria, netizens using the platform expressed their selves with different views.

“If they want us to take this Twitter in Nigeria suspension serious, Buhari, Bashir, Femi Adesina, Lai Mohammed and the rest of the gang should first deactivate their account, then we will know that they mean business,” Dr PamPam | Omo Iya Ologi [@UnclePamilerin] wrote.
Joining hundreds of others in reaction, former presidential aide, Reno Omokri wrote: “The suspension of the activities of @Twitter in Nigeria by the Muhammadu Buhari administration should be ignored by @Jack.
“The Buhari government has no means to effect the suspension, and even members of the administration are still on Twitter”.
Former Big Brother Naija housemate, TACHA also joined in the reaction calling the Nigerian government ‘confuse bunch’.
She tweeted: “Confuse bunch!! Imagine banning Twitter in Nigeria and still using the same App to let us know! What are the measures to effect this suspension abeg?”.
